Patient Dies During Treatment in Paras Hospital, Family Alleges Medical Negligence

Family members of a Srinagar man, who was undergoing treatment in the Paras Hospital Dalgate, Thursday staged a protest outside the health facility, alleging the death of the patient due to a “medical negligence”.

As per the news, the family members of the deceased, Gulzar Ahmad Shiekh, a resident of Bukhara Dalgate, gathered outside the Paras Hospital and demanded action against the erring doctors besides the return of the dead body, “which was not released by the hospital.”

“No one among us (family) was allowed to meet the patient. The doctor promised us that the patient will be fit and later told us in the morning that he (patient) has developed some complication. We were asked by the doctor to pay Rs. 3 lakh as some instrument has to be implanted in the patient to get him back on the track,” one of the family members said.

Moments after our conversation they told us that the patient had died, he added. “What we want now is justice, refund of fees and return of the dead body,” he said.

The protesting family members and relatives of the deceased created ruckus outside the Paras Hospital and vandalised the road barricades to protest against the alleged negligence of medicos.
